Since starting our coffee subscription in 2015, we have partnered with over 35 specialty coffee roasters from around Japan, with subscribers from over 30 countries worldwide. Kurasu's first motivation for starting out as a brand was to spread our passion for Japanese coffee culture across the world.
We have been fortunate to be able to travel around Japan and connect with so many wonderful roasters and their stories. The underlining factor is that they all share a passion and a desire to spread their message through coffee. In essence, Kurasu and our partner roasters all share this same vision.
From those amazing roasters we worked with last year, we have featured 10 of their stories, paired with their location on a map and their recommended recipe. All the contents are both in Japanese and English.
It’s our pleasure to do our part in telling their stories to a global audience- through this book, we hope you can experience their stories as if you are travelling with us, and we hope this book will work as a guidebook, for you and someone you care, to find a great coffee anywhere in Japan.
Lovely book that is well put together
A great resource to learn about new roasters. Also appreciated the brew recipes rom each roaster: I learned some new techniques to try. My only criticism is that print is small and light so for old eyes it is a little tough to read. But worth the effort so still gets 5 stars. I look forward to volume 2.
The world of coffee culture can be overwhelming with origin stories of beans, growing, sourcing, roasting, and brewing. Kurasu's A Year In Japanese Coffee did a wonderful job simplifying this through story telling of many passionate Japanese coffee roasters. This is a homage to the coffee community as well as a teaching lesson for how to brew like those in Japan and around the world.
I am thankful for this read and for Kurasu for putting this together. I will be making a checklist of which coffee shops to visit in Japan because of this book.
Love this, get to learn more about coffee as well as places I haven't been to. Been pinning more "to go" on maps ever since 😆
I have enjoyed reading the stories of different roasters in this book, getting insights into Japanese coffee. The print, design and quality are great as well. I recommend this book!
