I've never really had pour-over before but I wanted to try and the process always seems daunting. There were so many drippers to choose from and I decided on Simplify for the promise of a good and consistent cup of coffee. I paired it with Kurasu's Ethiopian Haloberiti and I very much enjoyed my cup. However, I can't really say how it compares to other drippers and methods.
The service and delivery (DHL option) were exceptional and very prompt.
SIMPLIFY the Brewer by Bathtub Coffee has to be tried to be believed. This dripper is by far the easiest means of getting a really good cup of coffee that I have ever tried. Whether the flavor profile of the resulting cup is a good, better or less so than that achieved from other styles of drippers is a matter of opinion rather than fact. We each know how that goes. All that I know is that one does not have to be as painstakingly careful with methodology with SIMPLIFY the Brewer in order to experience and enjoy great coffee flavor. I find myself using this dripper more often than I expected for just this reason. Having said this, I do enjoy the more time involved and less forgiving styles of drippers that I own. Sometimes it is a good thing to require oneself to think and accept a challenge. Still, when all that I desire is a really good cup of coffee I reach for SIMPLIFY the Brewer and get on with life. At times this device seems fragile while at other times it does not. This possibly only makes sense if you actually have and hold SIMPLIFY the Brewer. All in all, however, I believe that the dripper will stand the test of time if used and cared for properly. Highly recommended.
Simplify has become indispensable in my rotation of drippers. It produces a delicious and comparatively hot cup of pour-over coffee very quickly. It is ideal for those moments when you just don't have the time or energy to fuss about anything beyond grind size. But it would be a shame to only use it when you are feeling lazy, because it truly is a little wonder.
Because this is a one-pour style dripper, the resulting cup of coffee trades some of its complexity for balance/evenness (I've tested this against light, med and dark roasts, [caveat to my assertion, they were all natural process beans so no cross-process comparison). That said, every cup I have made with my Simplify has made me smile. The overall design is pleasing (to be honest, I think it looks so damn cool!), and its functionally is only deceptively "simple".
Treat it with kindness, wash gently and this will be a lasting fixture in your collection as I hope it will be of mine.
Great new flat bottom dripper, rarely clogs, very predictable, and looks great. I wish the plastic was a bit thicker and more premium feeling for the price, but I'm happy with its performance regardless. It will fit 155 filters, the draw down is slightly slower, but good regardless.
The one pour method is a refreshing take on brewing coffee, it does produce good results, though I still prefer my own pour method (3 x 100g).
Also don't scrub too hard with sponge to clean it, simple hot water and soap rinse will do, it will leave tiny marks if you scrub to hard.
I was sceptical about the description of this - surely drip could not be so simple and produce tasty coffee? Well, it is and I’m blown away. It is quick, simple and with the beans that I have used so far (light roasts), produces a fantastically, clean, well balanced cup.
