Founded in 2003 by Epiphanie Mukashaka, BUF COFFEE is an exporter now headed by her son, Samuel.
The company manages several washing stations, mainly in the Nyamagabe district in the south. Samuel, the head of the company, visits coffee producing countries in Latin America and other African countries to update Rwandan coffee production.
BUF COFFEE was one of the first suppliers to start natural and funky natural processes in the specialty coffee industry in Rwanda, where washed process is the mainstream, and uses various ideas to improve quality, such as installing large drying racks to control the drying process.
In addition, with the desire to “create the equal educational opportunities in urban and rural areas” and “enable Rwandan coffee producers to focus more on coffee production,” they have built a kindergarten near the washing station for the children of workers to attend for free, and as a non-monetary incentive, they have provided cows and other animals to support growers.
