A Year in Japanese Coffee Vol.1

Explore the stories in a cup- Exclusive stories by 10 Kurasu Partner Roasters with their recipes

Since starting our coffee subscription in 2015, we have partnered with over 35 specialty coffee roasters from around Japan, with subscribers from over 30 countries worldwide. Kurasu's first motivation for starting out as a brand was to spread our passion for Japanese coffee culture across the world.

We have been fortunate to be able to travel around Japan and connect with so many wonderful roasters and their stories. The underlining factor is that they all share a passion and a desire to spread their message through coffee. In essence, Kurasu and our partner roasters all share this same vision.

From those amazing roasters we worked with last year, we have featured 10 of their stories, paired with their location on a map and their recommended recipe. All the contents are both in Japanese and English.

It’s our pleasure to do our part in telling their stories to a global audience- through this book, we hope you can experience their stories as if you are travelling with us, and we hope this book will work as a guidebook, for you and someone you care, to find a great coffee anywhere in Japan.

Know more about Japan through coffee shops

Love this, get to learn more about coffee as well as places I haven't been to. Been pinning more "to go" on maps ever since 😆

    Great insight into Japanese coffee

This is exactly what I was looking for.
I wanted to research Japanese coffee culture and the many talented Roasters there.
This book is well presented and contains back stories to the Roasters and their favourite brewing recipes.

    Cultural awareness

Not just coffee culture but Japan in general. Thanks for compiling and sharing these information/knowledge with us. This made me much more motivated and inspired in pursuing same aspirations here in the Philippines. Hope to get a sip at one of your coffee shops soon. Arigatou gozaimasu!

    Informative and Insightful

I enjoyed reading "A Year in Japanese Coffee Vol. 1" on a lazy Sunday; it is dual language printed with English and Japanese. I appreciated that the volume was inclusive of other roaster/shops in Japan and not just focused on Kurasu. Hopefully things will return to normal in 2021 and we will be able to visit the shops mentioned in this volume!
