About The Product

Ishii-san crafted 2 sizes of his measuring spoon: an adorable little chunky S size, and an L size that has a warm and graceful presence.
Each item is made of a hand-carved walnut wood, and finished with a food safe plant based oil and wax.

Both sizes scoop approximately 13g of coffee beans, so 1 scoop = 1 cup, making a busy coffee lover’s life so much easier.

If you love the warmth of wooden utensils and appreciate the artisanal quality, this scoop is the one to get.

About Ishii Koji-san

On one winter’s day, we met Ishii-san at an exhibition. He worked in construction, furniture making and several other industries but none of it really felt right- until he decided to start learning woodwork from scratch and finally found his true passion in it. Through hand-crafting wooden tablewares and utensils, Ishii-san helps people re-connect with natural materials in their daily lives.

Wash gently with mild soap and sponge after the use, wipe any moisture off and dry in a shaded and breezy place after use. Do not leave the item soaked in water.

As you use the item the oil coating gradually reduces and you may notice a dryness of the surface. We recommend a regular re-application of oil for a long-lasting quality and a smoother surface.

To apply oil, take some onto a piece of cloth and apply a thin, even layer of it onto the surface. We recommend old T-shirts and other non fluffy materials as they won’t leave stray fibers. Kitchen paper can be used too. Wipe off any excess oil, and dry the item in a shaded and breezy spot for approx. 24 hours.

For oil, we recommend using a drying oil such as perilla oil, linseed oil, or walnut oil, but you can use olive oil too. Make sure to dispose of the cloth or a paper used to apply oil properly (soak in water, etc.) as they will be highly flammable.

This product is finished with food safe plant-based oil. Oil finish maximizes the natural beauty of wooden product, but it also means it is not entirely water-proof and needs a regular care and maintenance.

When used with food item, the smell or color of the food item may transfer to the product. To avoid that, we recommend applying some oil of your choice first and dry before use.

Do not apply force as it may break or lead to other damages.

About Ishii Koji

Ishii Koji-san is a young wood carving artist we met at an exhibition last winter. Ishii-san was once a construction worker and furniture constructor but he could not find his heart at comfort in those positions. In search for life as a creator, he studied wood craft full-time and that is when he found his life work as a wood tableware craftsman. Ishii-san has great passion for creating wooden tableware that encourages a human and wood contact within daily lives.
