A rare and expressive origin - Pallatanga, Ecuador

In the highlands of Pallatanga, in Chimborazo province, Ecuador, coffee grows in a landscape shaped by volcanic mountains, cool air, and dramatic day-night temperature shifts. These conditions slow cherry maturation and often bring a distinctive sense of structure and clarity to the cup - a style that feels both vivid and precise.

The story of Lugumapata Farm

Lugumapata began as a dairy farm dating back to the 1930s. Coffee was planted here around 2010, and at first, it wasn’t necessarily pursued with “specialty” in mind. Everything changed in 2016, when the farm’s first harvest placed 3rd at Ecuador’s Taza Dorada competition. From that moment, the focus became clearer - learning deeply, refining practice, and finding the best way to express what this land can offer.

The cup experience

This coffee is for people who enjoy cups that keep evolving.

It opens with crisp, bright fruit impressions - think green apple and pear. As it cools, a refreshing, lightly fermented, creamy character emerges, often described as aloe yogurt. With more time, a deeper tropical sweetness like ripe mango appears and lingers on the finish.

What makes this lot especially compelling is that all of this expression comes through a washed process. There’s no need for exaggerated processing to create impact - the variety, terroir, and careful work at the farm bring complexity that unfolds naturally, sip after sip.

Why this release matters

Ecuador is still relatively rare on the specialty coffee scene compared to many of its neighbors, which makes discoveries like this especially exciting. Lugumapata Sidra captures both clarity and movement - a cup that rewards attention and continues to reveal new layers throughout the brew.

A cup worth exploring

Take your time with this one. Brew it, let it cool, revisit it - and notice how the cup keeps shifting as it opens. If you enjoy coffees that feel alive in the cup, this release is well worth your attention.
