Cera Filter 002

Perfect for brewing a delicious cup of coffee without the need for disposable filters. The body of the filter is made of porous ceramic with countless holes of several microns in diameter, which produces a far-infrared effect and filtration capacity to remove impurities and chalky odors from the water.

By filtering liquid through this fine mesh, which is invisible to the naked eye, miscellaneous taste is removed and makes your beverage more mellow. This is the same level of filtration as that found in water purifiers.

Daily Care:

1. Dispose coffee remains in the cera filter.
Turn the filter upside down and remove coffee from the filter. Do this as soon as possible because it becomes difficult to remove once the coffee dries out.

2. Washing with water
Wash the cera filter in water. Rinse thoroughly to ensure that no coffee grounds remain. Please do not scrub the cera filter with a brush or a metal brush, as this can damage the filter. (Not dishwasher safe.)

3. Hot water bath
Place the cera filter in hot water to remove the coffee oil. Removal is complete when no colour appears. When storing the cera filter, leave it to dry naturally before putting it away. This is to avoid mould developing.

Yearly Care:

Place a net on the stove and put the filter on the net. Leave it on medium heat until no smoke is produced. Then turn off the heat, wait for it to cool down and wash it with water or hot water. If you are using induction and do not have access to a fire, you can boil the filter in a pan of water. You can also add food safe baking soda to help remove the oil.

Caution:
Please note that immediately after extraction, the entire dripper body will be hot. Please handle with the holder.

About 39Arita

Cerafilter is a creation of Arita earthware with more than 400 years of experience. The porous ceramic used is even now widely used as industrial products such as water filters, air purifiers, even filters for car mufflers. The ingredients are mixed and wetted with water from the natural well in Arita, and soil is molded which requires detailed modification by human hands. The product is then baked in the kiln for tens of hours, twice as long as usual which provides strength to the finished product.

Very Clean Cup of Coffee

This has been my new go to brewer. It creates one of the cleanest cups in my arsenal. The flavor is vibrant and really shows of the nuisances of each cup. So simple to use and clean. No filters needed. It does seem very delicate and I'm not sure how long it will hold up, but I've been using it for about 2 months straight. I prefer it over my V60 and Origami. It just works.

A bigger version of the ceramic filter with a lovely holder and tray. Makes 2 cups of delicious coffee. Would make a nice gift as it comes beautifully packaged.

The Perfect Filterless Pourover

I'm a very eco-conscious barista and for a very long time, I've been hesitant to make pourover coffee at home because I didn't want to generate any waste by throwing away filters (you can't recycle them!!!). Then, I came across Kurasu and the Cera Filter, and I knew it would be the perfect Christmas present for myself.

And boy, was I right. The coffee that comes from this is absolutely delicious, with no funny extra taste (or risk of "tasting paper"). This is the best eco-friendly alternative to a V60 ever — dare I say, maybe even better!

Just be sure to clean it properly according to instructions after every use, and you'll never be disappointed :)
